Product Availability and Out-of-Stock Items on Rootsy

Found something you love on Rootsy? Product availability can change depending on the seller's inventory, demand, and fulfilment arrangements.

Rootsy connects buyers with independent Canadian sellers who manage their own products and inventory.

This guide explains how product availability works and what to do if an item is out of stock or becomes unavailable after you've placed an order.

How to Check Product Availability

To check whether a product is available:

  1. Visit www.rootsy.ca.

  2. Browse the product categories or use the search bar.

  3. Select a product to open its details page.

  4. Review any available stock information, purchasing options, or product notices.

If a product is available for purchase, you may see an ADD TO CART or Buy Now button.

Please note: The presence of a purchase button does not guarantee that inventory will remain available until your order is accepted.

Why Products Become Out of Stock

Products may become unavailable because:

  • The seller has sold all available inventory.

  • Demand for the product has increased.

  • The seller is replenishing stock.

  • The product is temporarily unavailable.

  • A product variation or customization option is unavailable.

  • The seller has discontinued the product.

Stock availability is managed by the individual seller and may change without notice.

Can I Add an Out-of-Stock Product to My Cart?

Whether an item can be added to your cart depends on its current availability and the purchasing options displayed on its listing.

If the item is unavailable, you may need to wait until the seller replenishes its inventory or select another product.

Adding a product to your cart does not reserve it.

What if a Product Becomes Unavailable After I Place an Order?

Occasionally, a seller may be unable to fulfil an order because of an inventory error or unexpected stock shortage.

If this happens, Rootsy may coordinate with the seller to review the available options.

Depending on the circumstances, these may include:

  • Waiting for the product to become available, if you agree.

  • Selecting an alternative product where an appropriate arrangement is offered.

  • Cancelling the unavailable item.

  • Receiving an applicable refund for an item the seller cannot fulfil.

If the seller cancels an order or item because it cannot be fulfilled, the buyer will generally receive a refund for the affected item, including applicable taxes and associated shipping charges.

What About Product Variations?

Some sellers offer products in different sizes, colours, materials, or styles.

Availability may differ between variations.

For example, one colour may be available while another is sold out.

Review your selected product option before proceeding to checkout.

Can I Reserve a Product by Adding It to My Cart?

No. Adding a product to your shopping cart does not guarantee or reserve available stock.

Products remain subject to availability until the order is accepted and processed.

Will Rootsy Notify Me When an Item Is Back in Stock?

Back-in-stock notifications are not guaranteed.

If a listing offers a notification feature, follow the instructions displayed. Otherwise, check the product page periodically for updates.

Rootsy Customer Support may be able to assist with general product availability inquiries but cannot guarantee replenishment dates.
