Keeping your Rootsy seller account secure is important. Your account may contain sensitive business information, product listings, customer orders, subscription details, and payout information.
Rootsy provides a two-factor authentication (2FA) setup step during seller registration to help protect your account against unauthorized access.
This guide explains what two-factor authentication is, how to configure it, and what to do if you need assistance.
1. What Is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-factor authentication adds another layer of security to your account.
Instead of relying only on your password, 2FA requires an additional verification step to confirm your identity when requested.
Authenticator apps generate temporary verification codes that can help protect your account if your password is compromised.
2. When Will I See the 2FA Setup Option?
During Rootsy seller onboarding, you'll complete several stages:
Personal Information.
Store Information.
Banking Information.
Two-Factor Authentication.
When you reach the security setup stage, Rootsy displays its available verification options.
3. Set Up an Authenticator App
Rootsy recommends using an authenticator app for additional account protection.
An authenticator app, such as Authy or Google Authenticator, can generate temporary security codes.
To begin:
Open the two-factor authentication stage of seller registration.
Select Authenticator App, where prompted.
Follow the setup instructions displayed on your screen.
If Rootsy displays a QR code or setup key, use your authenticator app to add the account.
Enter the verification code if Rootsy requests one.
Complete the setup using the available confirmation controls.
The precise setup screens may vary depending on your device and authenticator app.
Important: Never share authentication codes, setup keys, or recovery information with anyone.
4. Complete Your Account Setup
After configuring two-factor authentication, follow the displayed instructions to finish that stage of registration.
The seller onboarding walkthrough includes a Finish option.
Select the appropriate completion button once your authentication setup is complete.
5. Can I Skip Two-Factor Authentication?
The current seller registration walkthrough also displays a Skip & Finish option.
This allows sellers to complete the registration stage without configuring an authenticator app at that time.
Although skipping may be available, Rootsy strongly recommends enabling two-factor authentication to improve account security.
Please note: Skipping the initial setup does not mean that additional account verification will never be required. Rootsy or its payment-processing partners may request verification when necessary.
6. How to Keep Your Seller Account Secure
In addition to enabling 2FA, follow these security practices:
Use a strong, unique password for your Rootsy seller account.
Avoid reusing passwords from other services.
Keep your authenticator app and mobile device secure.
Never share login credentials or verification codes.
Be cautious of suspicious emails requesting account or payment information.
Access your account through the official Rootsy website.
Contact Rootsy Support if you notice unfamiliar account activity.
7. What if I Lose Access to My Authenticator App?
If you change phones, lose your device, or cannot access your authenticator app:
Check whether your authenticator app provides an account recovery or device-transfer option.
Follow any recovery instructions available through your Rootsy seller account.
If you remain unable to sign in, contact Rootsy Customer Support.
For security reasons, Rootsy may require additional identity verification before assisting with account access.
Never send your password, authentication setup key, or one-time verification codes to support.
