Your Rootsy store profile helps introduce your business to customers and provides the information needed to manage your marketplace operations.
During seller registration, you'll complete the Store Information section. Once your account is set up, you can access available store management features through your Seller Dashboard.
This guide explains how to enter your store details and keep your information accurate.
Step 1: Complete the Store Information Section
During Rootsy seller registration, you'll be guided through several onboarding stages, including Personal Information, Store Information, Banking Information, and account security.
When you reach the Store Information stage, complete the required details about your business and storefront.
Review each field carefully before proceeding.
Step 2: Enter Your Shop Name
The Shop Name field identifies your store on Rootsy.
Choose a name that:
Clearly represents your business.
Is accurate and not misleading.
Does not impersonate another business.
Does not infringe another party's trademarks or intellectual property rights.
Complies with Rootsy's Seller Terms and marketplace policies.
Your preferred shop name may be subject to availability and Rootsy's review.
Tip: Use the business name customers already recognize, where appropriate.
Step 3: Write Your Shop Description
The Shop Description field allows you to introduce your business.
Consider including:
What your business offers.
The types of products you sell.
What makes your products or business distinctive.
Relevant information about your craftsmanship, design, or specialization.
Keep your description clear, accurate, and professional.
Avoid unsupported claims about product quality, origin, certifications, or other characteristics.
For example, only describe a product as Made in Canada when the claim is accurate and meets applicable requirements.
Step 4: Select Your Business Category
Choose the category that best represents your business.
Your selected category should accurately reflect the types of products you intend to offer.
If your business sells products across several categories, select the most appropriate available option during onboarding.
Individual products can be assigned to their relevant product categories when you create listings.
Step 5: Configure Your Store Preferences
The Store Information form includes fields for:
Shop Language
Province or Territory
Currency
Select the appropriate options displayed on the registration screen.
Rootsy operates as a Canadian marketplace, and transactions are conducted in Canadian dollars (CAD).
Ensure the selected province or territory accurately reflects your business information.
Step 6: Enter Your Business Information
The registration process may request additional details about your business, including:
CRA Business Number, where applicable.
GST/HST registration information, where applicable.
Number of employees.
Last fiscal year's gross revenue.
Expected annual revenue for a newly established business.
Provide complete and accurate information that reflects your business's circumstances.
Sellers remain responsible for their own tax registration, reporting, and compliance obligations.
Step 7: Add Your Business Address
Complete the address fields requested during onboarding.
These may include:
Street address.
Additional address details, such as suite or unit number.
City.
Province or territory.
Postal code.
Ensure the address information is accurate and consistent with your business registration and verification documents, where applicable.
Step 8: Configure Billing and Shipping Addresses
Rootsy may ask whether your billing and shipping-related addresses match your business address.
Billing Address
If your billing address is the same as your business address, select the applicable option.
If it's different, complete the separate billing address fields.
Shipping, Pickup, Drop-Off, or Return Address
Enter the location used for the relevant fulfilment activities.
This may be the address where:
Orders are prepared for shipment.
Packages are picked up by carriers.
Products are dropped off for shipping.
Approved returns are received.
Where the form allows you to reuse an existing address, select that option only if the information is accurate.
Important: Incorrect fulfilment addresses may cause shipping, carrier pickup, or return-processing problems.
Step 9: Review Your Store Information
Before continuing to the next onboarding stage:
Check your shop name and description.
Confirm the selected business category.
Review your language, province, and currency settings.
Verify your business registration details.
Check your business and billing addresses.
Confirm your shipping, pickup, drop-off, or return information.
Correct any incomplete or inaccurate fields.
Then proceed to the next registration stage.
Step 10: Manage Your Store Through the Seller Dashboard
Once your seller account is available, sign in to your Rootsy Seller Dashboard.
The dashboard includes a Store section for managing available storefront information.
To access it:
Sign in to your Rootsy seller account.
Locate Store in the dashboard navigation.
Open the available store settings.
Review your existing information.
Make permitted changes and save them using the controls displayed.
Some business or verification details may require additional review before changes take effect.
