To maintain a trustworthy marketplace, Rootsy collects business and identity information from sellers during registration.
Whether you're registering as a sole proprietor, corporation, or partnership, you'll need to provide accurate information about yourself and your business.
This guide explains the information requested during seller onboarding, how to prepare your verification documents, and what to do if you experience difficulties.

When you begin seller registration, the Personal Information form asks you to select your business type.
Available options include:
Sole Proprietorship: A business operated by an individual owner.
Corporation: A legally incorporated business.
Partnership: A business operated through a partnership arrangement.
Choose the option that accurately reflects how your business is legally organized.

CRA Business Number (BN).
GST/HST registration information.
Business name and store name.
Business category.
Province or territory.

If your business has a CRA Business Number, enter it accurately in the applicable field.
GST/HST Information
The registration form also asks about GST/HST registration.
Provide information that accurately reflects your business's registration status.
Not every business has the same tax-registration obligations. Sellers remain responsible for complying with applicable tax laws and providing accurate information.

To complete this section:
Locate Select Identity Document.

Before uploading, ensure that:
The document is clear and readable.
All required information is visible.
The document is complete and uncropped.
The image is not excessively dark, blurry, or distorted.
You have selected the correct document type.
Avoid grayscale scans and photographs of photographs, as indicated in the registration instructions.

The banking information stage collects the details needed for seller payouts.
These include:
Bank name.
Account number.
Transit number.
Institution number.
Bank address.
These details allow eligible seller earnings to be paid to the seller's registered bank account.
Important: Your seller payout banking details are separate from the payment method required for your Rootsy subscription.
For security, never send your full banking credentials or account passwords through ordinary support messages.
Step 9: Complete Any Additional Verification Requirements
Rootsy may need to review your submitted business and identity information.
Additional information or corrections may be requested where necessary for marketplace, payment-processing, or compliance requirements.
Providing registration information does not automatically guarantee seller approval or unrestricted selling access.
Follow any instructions displayed in your seller account or provided through an official Rootsy support channel.
