How to Update Your Seller Store Profile and Business Information on Rootsy

Keeping your store profile and business information accurate helps customers understand your business and ensures that your Rootsy seller account contains up-to-date information.

Rootsy allows sellers to manage their store details, business information, and relevant account settings through the Seller Dashboard.

This guide explains how to access your settings, update your store profile, maintain accurate business details, and resolve common account-information issues.

Depending on the available fields, you can update information such as:

  • Store name.

  5. Check the details for accuracy.

  6. Save your changes.

Review your customer-facing store information afterward to confirm the updates appear correctly.

3. Changing Your Store Name

Your store name helps customers recognize your business on Rootsy.

If you need to change it:

  1. Sign in to your Seller Dashboard.

  2. Open the applicable store settings.

  3. Locate the store name field.

  4. Enter your updated store name.

  5. Review the spelling and formatting.

  6. Save the changes.

Choose a store name that accurately represents your business.

Do not use another company's trademark, impersonate another business, or make misleading claims.

If your business has undergone a legal name change, review your registered business and payment verification information separately.

4. Updating Your Store Description

Your store description is an opportunity to explain what makes your business and products distinctive.

A helpful description may include:

  • The types of products you sell.

  • Your business background.

  • Your approach to quality or craftsmanship.

  • Product specializations.

  • Other relevant information about your store.

To update your description:

  1. Open the applicable store profile settings.

  2. Locate the description field.

  3. Update the text.

  4. Check for spelling and factual accuracy.

  5. Save the changes.

Avoid exaggerated claims, misleading guarantees, or statements that cannot be substantiated.

Important: Rootsy supports Canadian independent businesses, but products are not necessarily manufactured in Canada. Only make Canadian-origin claims when they are accurate.

5. Does Rootsy Support Seller Store Logos?

Rootsy does not currently offer a seller store-logo feature.

Sellers cannot upload, replace, or manage a custom store logo through the Seller Dashboard.

You can still maintain your store's identity through its name, description, product listings, and other available profile information.

If Rootsy introduces store-logo functionality in the future, the relevant instructions will be updated.

6. Updating Your Business Information

Your seller account contains information about the individual or business operating the store.

Depending on your registration, this may include:

  • Registered business name.

  • Business type.

  • Business contact details.

  • Business address.

  • Other registration information.

Rootsy supports business structures including:

  • Sole proprietorship.

  • Corporation.

  • Partnership.

To update your information:

  1. Open your Seller Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Settings.

  3. Locate your business details.

  4. Edit the applicable fields.

  5. Enter accurate, current information.

  6. Save your changes.

Ensure your registered information is consistent with your actual business records.

7. Changing Your Business Address

If your business moves or its address changes, update the relevant account information.

To do so:

  1. Open the applicable business or address settings.

  2. Review the address currently recorded.

  3. Enter your updated address.

  4. Check the street address, city, province, and postal code.

  5. Save your changes.

  6. Review any related shipping or return addresses.

Important: Your registered business address may serve a different purpose from your shipping origin, pickup, drop-off, or return address.

Review each applicable address to ensure the correct information is recorded.

8. Updating Shipping and Return Addresses

For sellers offering physical products, accurate shipping information is particularly important.

Your Rootsy account may include addresses used for:

  • Shipping origin.

  • Carrier pickup.

  • Drop-off arrangements.

  • Product returns.

If one of these addresses changes:

  1. Open the relevant seller settings.

  2. Locate the applicable address.

  3. Enter the updated information.

  4. Confirm that it is accurate.

  5. Save your changes.

  6. Review any existing orders or shipments that may be affected.

Updating an address does not necessarily modify shipping labels already generated or orders already in progress.

Contact Rootsy Customer Support if a pending shipment requires an address correction.

9. Updating Your Business Contact Information

Your account should contain current contact information so Rootsy can communicate important seller updates.

Where supported, update:

  • Business contact name.

  • Business email address.

  • Business telephone number.

  • Other relevant contact details.

To make changes:

  1. Open your Seller Dashboard.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Locate the relevant contact-information fields.

  4. Update the information.

  5. Save your changes.

  6. Complete any verification requested by the platform.

Use contact details that you actively monitor.

Changes to a login email or security-sensitive information may require additional verification.

10. Updating Information Used for Stripe Verification

Rootsy uses Stripe to support marketplace payments and seller payouts.

Your Stripe-related verification information may include:

  • Business identity.

  • Registered business name.

  • Business structure.

  • Authorized representative details.

  • Business address.

  • Other information required for payment compliance.

If you change information that is also used for payment verification, additional steps may be required.

For example, changing a registered business name or legal structure may lead to additional verification requirements.

Follow any instructions displayed in the Rootsy or authorized Stripe workflow.

Important: Updating your Rootsy store profile does not necessarily mean that separately maintained payment-provider verification records have also been updated.

11. Store Information vs. Banking Information

Store information and payout banking information serve different purposes.

Store and Business Information

Identifies your store and the business operating it.

Banking Information

Identifies the account used to receive eligible seller payouts.

Changing your business address, store name, or contact information does not automatically change your payout bank account.

If you need to update banking information, use the appropriate banking or payout settings.

12. Store Information vs. Subscription Settings

Your seller subscription determines the plan and marketplace commission associated with your account.

Rootsy offers Starter, Growth, and Pro plans.

Store-profile changes do not automatically change your subscription plan.

If you wish to upgrade, downgrade, or cancel a subscription, use the applicable subscription-management controls.

Subscription billing and store-profile management are separate functions.

13. How to Review Your Changes

After updating your information:

  1. Return to the relevant Settings section.

  2. Check that the new information was saved.

  3. Review your customer-facing store information, where applicable.

  4. Confirm that business and address details are correct.

  5. Check for any verification notices.

  6. Review whether the change affects pending orders or shipping arrangements.

If the information hasn't updated correctly, contact Rootsy Customer Support.

14. What if My Business Structure Changes?

If your business changes its legal structure, for example from a sole proprietorship to a corporation, there may be implications for registration, identity verification, banking, and payment processing.

Before relying on the updated account information:

  1. Ensure the new business details are legally accurate.

  2. Update the appropriate seller information.

  3. Review any Stripe verification requirements.

  4. Confirm your payout banking arrangement is suitable.

  5. Contact Rootsy Support if additional verification or account changes are necessary.

A change in legal business identity may require review even when fields are editable in the dashboard.

15. What if I Enter Incorrect Business Information?

If you notice an error:

  1. Sign in to your Seller Dashboard.

  2. Open the relevant settings.

  3. Locate the incorrect information.

  4. Correct the affected fields.

  5. Save the changes.

  6. Review any related verification notices.

If an error has already affected payouts, shipments, or account verification, contact Rootsy Support.

Do not submit false business information to bypass marketplace requirements.

16. Keeping Your Seller Information Secure

Your seller account may contain sensitive business and personal information.

To protect it:

  • Use a strong, unique password.

  • Enable two-factor authentication where available.

  • Avoid sharing login credentials.

  • Review unexpected account changes.

  • Keep your contact information current.

  • Use the official Rootsy website.

  • Never share one-time authentication codes.

  • Contact Rootsy Support if you suspect unauthorized access.

Sensitive business or identity documents should be submitted only through approved secure channels.
