How to Manage Your Rootsy Seller Subscription and Account Settings

Your Rootsy Seller Dashboard allows you to manage your seller subscription and important account settings.

Whether you want to review your current plan, upgrade or downgrade your subscription, update billing information, or make changes to your account, it's important to understand how these settings work.

This guide explains how to access your subscription information, review available options, and manage your account responsibly.

1. Access Your Seller Dashboard

To manage your seller account:

  1. Visit www.rootsy.ca.

  2. Sign in using your registered seller credentials.

  3. Open your Seller Dashboard.

  4. Select the relevant Subscription or Settings section.

  5. Review the information associated with your account.

Subscription management and general account settings may appear in different areas of the dashboard.

2. Review Your Current Seller Subscription

Rootsy offers three seller subscription plans: Starter, Growth, and Pro.

To review your plan:

  1. Open your Seller Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the subscription-management section.

  3. Review your current plan.

  4. Check the billing and renewal information displayed.

  5. Review any available plan-change options.

The details shown may include your subscription type, billing period, trial status, or upcoming renewal.

3. Understand Rootsy's Seller Plans

Rootsy's monthly subscription prices and standard marketplace commission rates are:

PlanMonthly priceProduct listing limitCommission
Starter$14.99 CAD2011.99%
Growth$29.99 CAD5010.99%
Pro$39.99 CADUnlimited9.99%

Subscription charges and marketplace commissions are separate.

The commission applies to eligible product sales according to Rootsy's marketplace pricing rules.

4. Understanding Your Free Trial

Eligible sellers may receive a six-month promotional subscription trial.

During the eligible trial period:

  • The subscription charge is waived according to the promotional terms.

  • The seller can use the applicable plan features.

  • Standard marketplace commissions still apply to eligible sales.

  • A valid supported subscription payment method is required.

  • Subscription charges may begin when the trial ends unless the subscription is cancelled in accordance with its terms.

Check your dashboard for the actual trial and billing dates associated with your account.

Important: A free subscription trial does not mean products can be sold without applicable marketplace commissions.

5. How to Upgrade Your Subscription

You may wish to upgrade when your business needs more product listings or a different commission rate.

To review an upgrade:

  1. Sign in to your Seller Dashboard.

  2. Open the subscription-management section.

  3. Review the available plans.

  4. Select the plan you wish to move to.

  5. Review the price and billing information displayed.

  6. Confirm the change through the available controls.

Any upgrade effective date, additional charge, or billing adjustment depends on the subscription terms and information presented during the change.

Do not assume that all upgrades take effect immediately or that a specific prorated charge will apply.

6. How to Downgrade Your Subscription

If you no longer need your current subscription level, you may choose a lower-tier plan.

To downgrade:

  1. Open your subscription settings.

  2. Review the available lower-tier plans.

  3. Select the desired plan.

  4. Check the changes to pricing and listing limits.

  5. Review the effective date.

  6. Confirm the downgrade.

Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing cycle, according to Rootsy's established subscription rules.

Before downgrading, review whether your existing product count exceeds the new plan's listing limit.

If you have more listings than the new plan permits, contact Rootsy Support for guidance on how the change will affect your store.

7. How to Cancel Your Seller Subscription

If you wish to cancel your subscription:

  1. Sign in to your Seller Dashboard.

  2. Open the subscription-management section.

  3. Locate the available cancellation option.

  4. Review the cancellation terms.

  5. Follow the confirmation instructions.

  6. Check the effective cancellation date shown.

Subscription cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle, under Rootsy's established subscription rules.

Review any outstanding orders, payouts, refunds, or other marketplace obligations before making changes.

Important: Cancelling a subscription is not necessarily the same as requesting deletion or closure of your seller account.

8. Understand Monthly and Annual Billing

Rootsy's subscription interface provides monthly and annual billing options.

Monthly plans use the prices listed above.

If you select annual billing:

  1. Review the annual price displayed.

  2. Check any applicable annual discount.

  3. Confirm the billing frequency.

  4. Review the renewal terms.

  5. Accept the applicable charges before proceeding.

Annual rates and promotional savings should be verified using the amounts displayed in your dashboard.

Do not assume that an advertised monthly price is the amount charged for an annual subscription.

9. Updating Your Subscription Payment Method

Subscription billing is handled separately from seller payout banking.

If you need to change the payment method used for your subscription:

  1. Open the subscription or billing section of your account.

  2. Locate the available payment-method settings.

  3. Follow the authorized update process.

  4. Enter or select the supported payment method.

  5. Complete any required verification.

  6. Confirm that the payment information has been updated.

If an update option is unavailable, contact Rootsy Support.

Never send full payment card information, card security codes, or banking passwords by email.

10. What Happens if a Subscription Payment Fails?

A subscription payment may fail because of:

  • An expired payment card.

  • Insufficient available funds.

  • Incorrect billing details.

  • A card issuer declining the charge.

  • Another payment-processing issue.

If a payment fails:

  1. Review any billing notification.

  2. Check the payment method associated with your subscription.

  3. Update incorrect or expired information.

  4. Follow any displayed payment-retry instructions.

  5. Contact Rootsy Support if the issue continues.

Unresolved subscription billing issues may affect the account's subscription status or access to certain seller features.

The exact outcome depends on Rootsy's current billing configuration and applicable terms.

11. Managing Your Store Information

Subscription management is separate from your public-facing store profile.

Your Seller Dashboard allows you to update store information such as:

  • Store name.

  • Store description.

  • Contact information.

  • Store and business addresses.

  • Other available settings.

To make changes, open Seller Dashboard → Settings and select the relevant section.

Please note: Rootsy does not currently offer seller store-logo uploads or management.

12. Managing Your Registered Business Information

Sellers can update their business information through the available account settings.

This may include:

  • Registered business name.

  • Business structure.

  • Business address.

  • Business contact information.

  • Other applicable registration details.

Changes to legally significant information may require additional verification through Rootsy or Stripe.

Review any verification notices after updating business information.

13. Managing Your Payout Banking Details

Banking information is required to receive eligible seller earnings.

Your payout banking information may include:

  • Account holder name.

  • Bank account number.

  • Transit number.

  • Institution number.

  • Other required banking details.

Use the relevant banking or payout settings to review or update this information.

Important: Updating the payment method for subscription billing does not automatically change the bank account used to receive seller payouts.

14. Managing Account Security

To protect your seller account:

  • Use a strong, unique password.

  • Keep your registered email secure.

  • Enable two-factor authentication where available.

  • Never share login credentials or verification codes.

  • Review unexpected account changes.

  • Report suspicious activity to Rootsy Support.

Rootsy's seller onboarding offers authenticator-app-based two-factor authentication.

The initial setup includes a Skip & Finish option, although Rootsy recommends enabling 2FA.

15. What Happens to Product Listings When You Change Plans?

Subscription plans have different product listing limits.

For example:

  • Starter permits up to 20 products.

  • Growth permits up to 50 products.

  • Pro offers unlimited product listings.

If you downgrade to a plan with a lower listing limit, review your current product count before confirming the change.

Do not assume that Rootsy will automatically delete excess listings.

If your current product count exceeds the new limit, contact Rootsy Support to confirm the applicable restrictions and steps required.

16. What Happens to Orders and Payouts if You Cancel Your Subscription?

Changing or cancelling a subscription does not automatically remove existing marketplace obligations.

Depending on your circumstances, you may still need to:

  • Fulfil outstanding customer orders.

  • Respond to return or refund requests.

  • Cooperate with disputes.

  • Resolve outstanding account charges.

  • Complete payment or banking verification.

  • Review eligible seller payouts.

Follow Rootsy's Seller Terms and applicable support instructions.

Do not assume that cancelling a subscription automatically refunds prior subscription charges or cancels customer orders.

17. Reviewing Subscription Charges

If you notice an unexpected subscription charge:

  1. Check your current seller plan.

  2. Review the billing period.

  3. Confirm whether your promotional trial has ended.

  4. Check whether you selected monthly or annual billing.

  5. Review any recent plan changes.

  6. Compare the charge with the available billing information.

  7. Contact Rootsy Support if the amount appears incorrect.

Subscription billing and transaction-based marketplace commissions are separate charges.

18. What if Your Subscription Information Isn't Updating?

If a plan change or account setting doesn't appear correctly:

  1. Confirm that the action was submitted successfully.

  2. Review any confirmation message.

  3. Check the effective date of the change.

  4. Return to the relevant dashboard section.

  5. Refresh the page.

  6. Review any billing or verification notices.

  7. Contact Rootsy Support if the discrepancy continues.

Do not submit repeated plan changes or payment requests while the original transaction's status is unclear.
